AN INTENSIVE WORKSHOP FOR DANCE IMPROVISATION AND INSTANT COMPOSITION WITH A FOCUS ON WORKING WITH OBJECTS.
THE EVENT IS SUITABLE FOR BOTH DANCERS AND ACTORS
“THEATER WORKS: working with OBjeCtS” is an upgrade of last year’s workshop led by Paolo Cingolani “Poetics of movement – Instant composing” and offers for the first time in Bulgaria training on working with objects in the context of instant composing with teacher Julyan Hamilton. This workshop is part of a series of classes and part of Hamilton’s comprehensive pedagogical work entitled: “Theater Works”.
Hamilton is one of the pioneers in the field of instant composition. His performances are characterized by a number of different reoccurring elements. These elements have been deeply researched and practiced over the years. They involve light / sound / space / text and speech ….and the use of objects.
His decor work and use of objects in the space is of essence and accompanies all of his theatre pieces.
Topics of the training will be:
OBjeCtS:
– placed
– handled
– spoken to
– danced beside
– destroyed
– created
All reveal a particular poetry especially when in the context of the ‘naked’ dancer’s body.
We will take a look at this subject, working the body thoroughly and in the context of objects ‘on stage’.
We’ll consider and practice how to enter into poetic relationships with objects and discover how they can participate and reveal further layers of imagery in performance.
The program will be closed with a presentation of the work open to an audience. An opportunity to have fun and test into practice all the material from the week.
WHO IS IT FOR:
The workshop is for professionals and students in the field of dance and theater without age restrictions; to those who are seekers, explorers, love to dance or move and those curious to find out about working with objects in improvisation or want to add on their already accumulated experience. It is not necessary to dance professionally, but prior movement and/or performance experience would be beneficial.
There are up to 30 participants who will be selected after submitting an application here:
